Oral Pathology

Northern Virginia

The inside of the mouth is normally lined with a special type of skin (mucosa) that is smooth and coral pink in color. Any alteration in this appearance could be a warning sign of oral pathology, the most serious of which is oral cancer.

If you detect any of the following around your lips, cheeks, palate, and gum tissue around the teeth, tongue, face and/or neck:

  • Reddish patches or whitish patches in the mouth
  • A sore that fails to heal and bleeds easily
  • A lump or thickening on the skin lining the inside of the mouth
  • A chronic sore throat or hoarseness
  • Difficulty in chewing or swallowing

…then you may find yourself in the beginning stages of an oral pathological process, or worse, a cancerous growth. Do not ignore suspicious lumps. Please contact our expert in oral pathology diagnosis and treatment, Dr. Gocke, for help to avoid a more serious life-threatening situation.

For an accurate diagnosis, contact Dr. Gocke’s office in the Northern Virginia area to schedule an oral pathology consultation at (703) 388-2805.
