Please allow me to write few details to make my point. A general dentist with limited experience, and with NO oral surgery specialty placed my original implants; they failed in less than 2 years. My experience of implant failures were: #1) bad breath due to food getting lodged under my crown, and it felt like I was never able to keep my mouth clean despite consistent electrical tooth brushing and flossing, # 2) Another crown was always moving around and I would try to manually tighten the crown. [[ Of course, this is just my experience with one particular general dentist, and this is not in any way a reflection of all general dentists out there]]. Switched to Dr Negar Tehrani in McLean as my general dentist, but she is a prosthodontist by academic and professional training. Dr Tehrani who is very compassionate did not play around or wasted my time or money (unlike the previous general dentist). Dr Tehrani referred me to periodontist, Dr Lillian Carpio who has decades of experience. Dr Carpio surgically cleaned out the surroundings of my one infected implant (which is the #2 above). Both Dr Tehrani and Dr Carpio deserve a separate review--but just wanted to say they both worked beautifully to refer me to one of the best oral surgeons in the area--Dr Gocke--who is highly qualified academically and professionally in his dental practice. Please let me pause here and share something I value, that is bedside manners!! My wisdom teeth were extracted by an oral-surgeon who had decades of experience but NEVER looked into my eyes--I felt very disrespected! Dr Gocke was the 2nd life-time oral surgeon I had ever met and my mind was curious if he would look at my eyes when I met him. Dr Gocke is very gentle, polite, pleasant, and yes he looked at my eyes (smile). From day 1 of my consultation session, he never never pushed me to do anything I did not agree. He explained all x-ray and CT imaging. Responded to all my questions. My 2 extractions and implants were done under local anesthesia which is what I wanted; gratefully I did not require pain relief afterwards except may be 2 doses of Tylenol (this is my experience, but everyone is different). HIGHLY appreciated the pre-procedure Amoxicillin capsules they give you right there, and the detailed post-implant instructions. The entire practice is very clean, loved working with everyone assisting Dr Gocke (front desk, treatment/financial coordinators, surgical assistants) . My implants never had an infection. My prayer is that I do not need to return for further tooth extraction or implant because the last 4 years had been roller coaster of implant/extraction/re-implant journey. However, if I ever need to while living in NOVA, I will not see anyone but Dr Gocke. I have told a number of family members and friends to get implants from Dr Gocke's care. THANK YOU Dr Gocke, I pray for my Lord Jesus to fill you with wisdom and guidance in your pursuit of being a compassionate and outstanding oral-surgeon.

Dr. Gocke is so skilled and my teeth extraction went so fast and perfect. The cut was very clean and my teeth had no infection and recovered really well. Now I already had my braces put on! Thank you Dr. Gocke for contributing a huge part to my teeth straightening journey!! No wonder why my orthodontist recommended you so much!! I am just soooo impressed!!

Dr. Gocke has worked on my kids and myself several times over several years so I can confidently say that he’s the best oral surgeon in town. From minor procedures to major extractions and implants, we’ve experienced it all and would wholeheartedly recommend him. Shout out to his amazing staff and surgical assistants, they are so very sweet and friendly. Overall the office is run so smooth and efficiently and Dr. Gocke himself is so skilled at what he does. I feel safe in his care and wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Simply the Best!! I am 86 years old and as very nervous and scared about needing an extraction and implant. From the treatment planning to the scheduling to the procedure everything was perfect. Dr. Gocke is the most accomplished and professional surgeon I have met. Dr. Gocke and his team were so meticulous, considerate and compassionate. This practice is exceptional. The entire staff is upbeat and encouraging, as well as professional. Dr. McAdams is kind, straight-forward, and explains what you need to know about the procedure. Yesterday my husband, who has several disabilities, returned for a second extraction, and was made as comfortable and reassured as possible. The procedure was quick, effective and and we returned home confident of another excellent outcome. We trust this practice - our highest praise.

Dr. Vigliante's easy going bedside manner exhibits his confidence, skill and talent when explaining oral procedures and impact to the patient. His surgical team is lockstep with him throughout the oral procedure. Their laser focus preparedness prior to the procedure also demonstrates both competence and compassion. My oral procedure was part 2 of a sinus lift/bone graft for the left side of my mouth; right side was completed one month prior. Since I already experienced part one of the sinus lift/bone graft a month ago, part two was the same process. Even though you hope everything will go as planned, anything can surface. I was extremely at ease and put my total trust in their continued care. You have numerous options when selecting oral surgical care. So if you are reading this post, just know I only provide constructive feedback. In this case, I wanted to share my positive experience so you make your call now. Look no further....you found your oral surgeon and surgical team. You will be completely satisfied with your choice.

When my dentist and I determined that my back molar should be pulled (the pain was unbearable), he wanted an oral surgeon to do the work. The folks at Virginia Advanced Surgical Arts scheduled me immediately — literally minutes after my dental appointment! I was evaluated, prepped, and given an IV drip anesthesia. The paperwork was also handled quickly and efficiently.Dr. Gocke and his team were personable, professional and attentive to my particular situation. The surgery was quick and painless. Great care! I appreciate that they take the least invasive path possible and really listen to you as a patient. The offices are not the tidiest (e.g., carts with boxes lying about), but the building is having some renovations done, so I’m assuming that’s not the usual state. Regardless - great care and very satisfied with my treatment and the knowledge of the doc!

I was referred to Potomac Surgical Arts for implant and the staff was very professional, the office clean and bright. But most of all I felt NO pain. The nurse really recommended laughing gas to stay calm then MD numbed me and I did not feel pain. Excellent work!
