Patient-Centered Care for Children and Teenagers
As a father of four young children, Dr. Michael T. Gocke knows children require special attention and care regarding their oral healthcare.
Our board-certified oral surgeons at Virginia Oral Facial and Implant Surgery have created a child-friendly environment that offers a compassionate and safe setting for any child undergoing oral surgery at our office. Dr. Gocke and Dr. Michael McAdams are also highly skilled in diagnosing many conditions affecting teeth, jaw, and facial bones.
Our oral & maxillofacial surgeons offer a wide variety of pediatric oral surgery procedures, such as:
- Dental extractions
- Exposure of unerupted teeth
- Impacted teeth
- Labial or lingual frenectomies (tongue-tied)
- Facial trauma (facial lacerations, fractured bones, and displaced teeth)
What sedation options do you offer for children?
The safety of our patients is our number one priority. Choosing the best sedation option for your children will be based on the patient’s behavior, medical history, and age. These options are thoroughly discussed between Dr. Gocke, Dr. McAdams, and the patients’ parents to ensure the best course of treatment.
Dr. Gocke provides the following sedation options for children:
- Local anesthetic
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
- IV anesthesia
- General anesthesia
In addition to offering in-office procedures with the assistance of a CRNA who applies anesthesia, our surgeons can also perform surgery at Inova McLean Ambulatory Surgery Center and Inova Fairfax Hospital.
