Patient-Centered Care for Children and Teenagers

As a father of four young children, Dr. Michael T. Gocke knows children require special attention and care when it comes to their oral healthcare.

Dr. Gocke, a board-certified oral surgeon, provides a child-friendly environment. At Virginia Oral Facial and Implant Surgery, our goal is to provide a compassionate and safe environment for any child getting oral surgery procedures done at our office. Dr. Gocke is highly skilled in diagnosing a wide range of conditions that affect teeth, jaw and facial bones.

Dr. Gocke offers a wide variety of Pediatric Oral Surgery such as:

  • Dental extractions
  • Exposure of unerupted teeth
  • Impacted teeth
  • Labial or lingual frenectomies (tongue-tied)
  • Facial trauma (facial lacerations, fractured bones and displaced teeth)

What sedation options do you offer for children?

The safety of our patients is our number one priority. Choosing the best sedation option for your children will be based on the patient’s behavior, medical history and age. These options are thoroughly discussed between Dr. Gocke and the patients’ parents to pick the best course of treatment.

Dr. Gocke provides the following sedation options for children:

  • Local anesthetic
  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
  • IV anesthesia
  • General anesthesia (Scheduled at INOVA’s Mclean Ambulatory Center)

Dr. Gocke has privileges at the INOVA Mclean Ambulatory Center. The center is located in the same building as our office, making it convenient for both the doctor and our patients. At the Mclean Ambulatory Center, Dr. Gocke can perform pediatric oral surgery under general anesthesia. They provide a cost-effective and convenient environment that is less stressful than what many hospitals can offer.
